Bryan Harlan

Bryan Harlan founded Harlan Sports Management in July 2000 after spending the previous 15 years with the Chicago Bears, including the last ten as Director of Public Relations. At the time of his promotion, Harlan was the youngest Public Relations Director in the National Football League. In his tenure, he worked under head coaches Mike Ditka, Dave Wannstedt and Dick Jauron.
Harlan handled the large, national media coverage for a club that made eight playoff appearances. The 1985 Super Bowl Championship team became one of the most visible sports teams in sports history. Harlan was also actively involved in free agent recruiting and broadcast programming. He negotiated numerous radio and TV deals for players and guided several into network assignments. Ten former Bears players and coaches from his tenure are current Harlan Sports clients.
A native of Green Bay, Harlan received a degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of Iowa in 1984. His father, Bob, is former President and CEO of the Green Bay Packers while his brother, Kevin, calls NFL and college basketball games for CBS and NBA games for Turner Sports. His niece, Olivia, is a college football sideline reporter for ESPN.

Phil HSM

Phil Pengiel

Phil Pengiel joined Harlan Sports Management in 2009 following three years as an investment banking analyst at Raymond James and Associates. During his three years with Raymond James, Phil specialized in mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity and debt financings, and financial advisory assignments across all sectors of the financial services industry, including banks and thrifts, insurance, specialty finance and capital markets. In total, Phil participated in transactions totaling over $2 billion during his Raymond James tenure.
A Chicago native, Phil graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Economics in 2006. A three-year starter at center for the Maroon football team, he was thrice named all-conference and was a Division III All-American as a senior. He and his wife, Brittany, a speech pathologist, currently reside in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood with their son, Teddy and their Boston Terrier, Charlie.

Bynum Jaeger

Bynum Jaeger joined Harlan Sports Management in 2013 upon graduation from Tulane University School of Law, where he studied with a focus in sports law.
A graduate of Furman University, Bynum played defensive back on the football team and was a member of Furman’s Army ROTC program. After graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and completed two years of law school while working part-time for HSM before receiving military orders to attend United States Army Flight School in Enterprise, AL. He successfully completed flight school in 2012 as a Blackhawk Helicopter pilot and served in the military as a pilot in the Georgia Army National Guard until 2017.
A native of Marietta, Georgia, Bynum is married to Dr. Lindsey Riedl Jaeger, a Pediatric Emergency Doctor at Comer Children’s Hospital-University of Chicago. They reside together in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. Bynum is an attorney, a member of the Illinois State Bar, and a board member for the Ben Lucas Foundation and the ARCHway Institute, organizations that specialize in helping individuals  with addiction recovery.
